Diplomat Eberhard von Stohrer and his wife Maria Ursula often traveled to the Mediterranean, so much so that they chose to build a summer home on the island. After the war, the couple settled in Ischia and, upon her husband's death in 1953, Maria Ursula dedicated herself to managing the property, transforming it in the Seventies into the park we know.

The Castiglione spring, celebrated since ancient times, had been praised by important historical figures such as Pliny the Younger and Strabo for its exceptional properties. Even Giulio Iasolino, in his famous treatise "On natural remedies", had praised its benefits, confirming its prestige and therapeutic value.
